Breadth #3
4/5/19 The Universe is Within You I chose a space theme for this fractured self portrait. I used acrylic on canvas, and I used a sponge technique to create the galaxy. This piece was inspired by the short poem "93 Percent Stardust" by Nikita Gill. |
Breadth #2
3/22/19 The prompt for my second breadth is "above and below water." I painted my friend, and her face and shoulders are above water and her hair is flowing underwater. I added movement to her hair by using soft curves and created depth by layering her hair and using lighter values for the hair that is farther away from the viewer. |
Breadth #1
3/15/19 For my breadth, I chose to paint a location significant to me. This past summer, I vacationed with a friend to the small mountain town of Idaho Springs, Colorado. We stayed in her sister's apartment, above the restaurant Mtn Prime. We had such an exciting week while we were there, and the cozy apartment we always came back to at the end of our adventures has a special place in my heart. I used contour with the vertical and horizontal edges of the various buildings, the windows and doors, and the shadow on the left side of the painting. To create an enhanced focal point (the Mtn Prime building) I used more vibrant colors for the building and added more detail to it than the other buildings in the painting. |
